Long-term stays and digital nomading at Nockalm Cottage

The Nockalm Cottage is not only a vacation accommodation, but also offers all the necessary equipment for pleasant long-term stays in the home office. The house has a stable 300 MBit fiber connection, a network printer and in the larger apartments there is also a workstation with desk. In the months of September-December and March-July we offer very attractive long-term rates.

The location of the Nockalm Cottage

The Nockalm Cottage is located in a beautiful secluded location at the entrance of St. Oswald. The gondola, ski slopes, ski school, mountain bike rental, grocery store and various restaurants can be reached on foot. The gondola Brunnach is 500m away, back you go with the skis almost to the house. Shopping facilities in the minimarket are in the village and supermarkets in Bad Kleinkirchhei 5km away.

The alpine feel-good resort in the heart of the Carinthian Nockberge mountains not only impresses with its fresh mountain air and breathtaking mountain panorama, it also delights with two thermal spas at the highest level. Sankt Oswald in association with the World Cup ski resort Bad Kleinkirchheim offers a wide range of winter sports opportunities on and off the slopes. A total of 24 lifts, 103 kilometers of slopes and the longest runs in Carinthia - this is the huge and sunny ski area of the Nockberge mountains. In the meantime, the region has also developed into a very interesting mountain bike resort, with hundreds of kilometers of legalized trails for riders of all skill levels, which scores points especially for its family-friendliness. The centerpiece is the absolutely successful Flow Country Trail in Bad Kleinkirchheim, which offers 15km of super flowing downhill fun for the whole family, with the ascent being made comfortably by gondola lift and huts along the way inviting you to take a break. The Nockberge mountains are also an extremely popular hiking area with a uniquely diverse vegetation that thrives here on a very special combination of limestone and primary rock. Many huts invite you to stop and enjoy the legendary homemade Kaiserschmarren and culinary alpine specialties of the region.

Mountain biking

The area of St. Oswald and Bad Kleinkirchheim offers numerous biking possibilities. From leisurely family biking to ambitious trail fun, it's all here. Both the Brunnach Biosphere Railway, which is only 500m away from the Nockalm Cottage, and the Kaiserburg Railway in Bad Kleinkirchheim allow you to take your bikes with you. From there it goes into a fascinating area in the 2000s. The centerpiece of the Nockberge bike experience is the flow country trail on the Kaiserburg. The beautifully laid out trail meanders super flowy from the top station at 2,100 with rollers, small jetties and steep turns over 910 meters of altitude down into the valley. It is suitable for both average and ambitious riders.

Hiking

A hiking vacation in the Nockberge mountains is diverse and yet unique. The area with hundreds of kilometers of hiking trails is varied, fascinating and leaves nothing to be desired, from leisurely family hikes to ambitious tours. The cable cars take you up to the peaks around St. Oswald in the blink of an eye. High altitude flights up to 2,100 meters await young and old. With the Biosphere Park cable car Brunnach only 500m away from the Nockalm Cottage or the Kaiserburg cable car in Bad Kleinkirchheim, adventurous alpine hikes and impressive views are guaranteed. Numerous huts and alpine pastures entice you with homemade Carinthian specialties for extensive moments of enjoyment.

Active Park and Yoga Trail

At the mountain station of the Brunnach Biospärenbahn, movement stations with different exercise elements meet diverse resting places in the form of benches and hanging swings in the 3000m2 large active park. The different stations offer a variety of exercise opportunities for young and old. For those who prefer a little more peace and quiet, the Mountain Yoga Trail invites you to find inner harmony. You are also welcome to take your stroller with you, the path through the trail is well suited for this.

Golf

The 18-hole golf course at 1,100 m above sea level in the Carinthian Nockberge mountains not only impresses with a fantastic view of Bad Kleinkirchheim and a picturesque mountain panorama, but also promises the highest golfing enjoyment on varied and challenging holes. Due to the altitude and the countless shady trees, the golf course offers a pleasantly mild playing climate even in high summer.

Thermal baths

Already in Roman times the hot springs with thermal water were discovered in Bad Kleinkirchheim and more than 500 years ago the first thermal spa below the chapel of St. Kathrein in Bad Kleinkirchheim was mentioned historically for the first time. Today, Bad Kleinkirchheim with its two thermal baths fed by natural hot springs is Carinthia's most important thermal resort. While the architecturally legendary Römerbad boasts a state-of-the-art, gigantic sauna landscape, the Therme St. Kathrein has an 86m-long water slide and, at 1200m2, the largest thermal pool in Carinthia.

Have spent one night on the beautiful pitch. Since the operators, Lara and Norbert, are campers themselves, they know exactly what is needed. Thus, in addition to electricity, water, W-LAN drive-up wedges and a power cable, there is also a Nespresso machine and a microwave in the little house that Norbert has built himself. In addition, you can use the toilet in the house and borrow bicycles for free. A perfect place!

Although the house looks older from the outside, inside it has been completely renovated. We were a group and had rented the whole house i.e. 5 apartments in July 2022. All were perfectly furnished with fully equipped kitchens (including microwave, coffee maker, toaster, sandwich maker, dishwasher), outdoor patio seating available for all, working awnings, 2 grills (charcoal available). Perfectly working Wi-Fi throughout the house. Owner very nice and helpful, fluently English speaking. Several bikes available for rent (free of charge). Nearby clean brook used by the boldest for hardening off. Biosphärenparkbahn Brunnach cable car within walking distance. We had a great time here, perfect place for visiting Carinthia, we would love to come back in the future!
